Hospitality is a field that always needs work it seems. With restaurants, tourism, and so forth, this is a good field to branch out in.

I agree, especially hospitality. People seem to be traveling more and have a need for nice accomodations. The field seems wide open for those looking to advance in this particular career.

There are several areas in the hospitality arena where it seems easier than most venues to rise up rapidly:

In the restaurant or event catering business there is such a huge turnover of help that by being conscientious and displaying a responsible attitude, one can start, even as a waiter and rise quickly to manager. If one works in a profitable chain of restaurants, or one of a city's dominant catering businesses, that can be the start of an upward career spiral.

Also, in the food biz --catering or groceries, like Whole Foods -- there may be no requirement for a fancy pedigree or college degree to get in the IT department and handle all the logistics of food distribution. This can turn, relatively quickly, into an executive level position, if you're conscientious, get along well with people and are a bit of a computer whiz.

If you're game, give it a try - it can be a relatively quick journey to the top.

Good luck,

awomen;)
