Being an extrovert, I have loved doing jobs that entail me to talk with people in any way, in person, by phone or even chatting.  However, most of the jobs that I have done online doesn't seem to give me the chance to connect.  Sometimes I like call center type jobs but residing outside of the US gives me less chance to land a call center job that pays decently.

I think one of the funniest stay-at-home customer service jobs that I ever had was working as a tarot card reader for the "Psychic Reader's Network" (rememeber Miss Cleo?  lol... we always got people asking to talk to her).  Those jobs are fun but they can be very stressful too, as you're basically trying to convince people to stay on the line for 20+ minutes.  Ouch.

Oh, really?  That must be something!  Well, I believe that customer service jobs are also difficult and sometimes it entails a little 'marketing' talent in it that you have to keep people 'awake' and 'tuned in' so that you will be able to get your goal.

Very much so.  I've found far too many people who think customer service jobs are a piece of cake, only to discover it's quite the opposite.  There is a lot to be said, especially when dealing with customers on a day-to-day basis.  It's much easier to perform a task in the back of the shop :)

My current job is quite customer service related!  I'm an Assistant Manager in training at a convenience store.  I deal with both regulars and total strangers nearly every minute of each day I work.  CS is absolutely NOT a cake-walk job!   Not only do I have to be able to run the store from stocking to cleaning to maintenance but I have to make each customer's visit worthy of a return visit.  Not easy by any means but very rewarding when you see a new face come back. :)

I have worked in customer service. I did not like doing call center work, but there are other aspects of customer service that are good to do.

I know exactly how you feel, I worked as a MIT-manager in training at a convenience/diesel place and it certainly isn't a cake job. There was a lot to learn as well as handle employee issues, manage the store and learn paperwork.  But, the best part were indeed the customers. And when one came back and said it was b/c of a really nice previous visit, that just made my day.
